Expert and Accurate Gold Refining
Adding value to your dental business
With state-of-the-art equipment and industry-standard processes, we offer accurate precious metal refining to dental offices and labs nationwide. Our prompt, competitive returns rival any in the industry. We stand behind our work. Let us support yours.
The Maguire Refining difference for Dentists
We are the only amalgam waste recycler listed by the ADA with the ability to safely process all forms of amalgam waste and pay you for the gold, silver, platinum and palladium contained in extracted crowns, PFMs, etc. Extracted teeth containing amalgam and precious metal restorations are considered to be both potentially infectious as well as mercury waste. We are able to disinfect the tooth then separate the precious metal scrap from the amalgam waste. This allows us to safely recycle the amalgam waste before we assay the precious metal scrap for payment. We do this regardless of whether material is received directly from the dental office or from the patient via our pre-paid scrap mailer envelopes.
The Maguire Refining process
Using industry-standard metallurgic techniques, we refine solids, grindings, sweeps, filters and carpet to recover gold, platinum, palladium and silver. We can process any amount of material; from one of our scrap mailer envelopes with a patient’s extracted tooth and gold crown, to the wall-to-wall carpeting from a lab.
We process two samples from each lot in parallel to ensure accuracy and a maximum settlement for you.
Step 1: Intake
We receive, weigh and record your lot, noting special instructions.
Step 2: Melting
High-grade solids are melted and poured into bars. Low-grade materials are processed separately.
Step 3: Sampling
Lots are vacuum snap-tube sampled when molten, or bars are sampled drilled when cooled.
Step 4: Assay
Samples are analyzed by instrumentation using XRF. Using the classical fire assay, samples are wrapped in lead, placed in bone-ash cupels and heated to about 2,000℉. The resulting doré beads are run through acid and annealed to yield .9999 fine gold. Further processing yields the additional precious metals.
Step 5: Settlement
Receive your choice of settlement with your prompt, precise, competitive return.

We offer several settlement options:- Checks
